Stephen Hawking: Logical Errors

Hawking quote: “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” Hawking writes. “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.”

think_for_yourselfDisclaimer: Although this website is NOT a supporter of religious indoctrination, encouraging Hawking to spout ever more conditioning malarkey is insulting to anyone with a mind they can call their own. This arises from the binary ‘religion or science’, as if there are no other choices. A further choice is thinking for yourself?

Wiki: …“the Big Bang” as an event is also colloquially referred to as the “birth” of our universe since it represents the point in history where the universe can be verified to have entered into a regime where the laws of physics as we understand them work”.

No laws of physics
Wiki: Gravity, or gravitation, is a natural phenomenon by which all things with mass are brought toward (or gravitate toward) one another, including planets, stars and galaxies, and other physical objects.

No mass, no gravity

If there was no mass at the point of the big bang then it cannot be claimed that gravity was the cause. Hawking is saying that the universe was created by physical laws and a law of gravity that did not exist at the time of the big bang. Something that existed outside of physical laws cannot act according to the same physical laws.

circularCircular Reasoning Description: A type of reasoning in which the proposition is supported by the premises, which is supported by the proposition, creating a circle in reasoning where no useful information is being shared.

Circular reasoning is used so often in science that no one seems to notice it’s there…
The elephant in the room.

Hawking is not the only fruitcake esteemed by science. See SETI

Hawking quote: “Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation. What I meant by ‘we would know the mind of God’ is, we would know everything that God would know, if there were a God, which there isn’t. I’m an atheist.” Hawking 2014

Meme creation: that science knows everything.

Stephen Hawking is a lifetime member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, a Catholic research institute.

Quote: Since large bodies such as planets generally carry no net charge, the electric field at a distance is usually zero. Thus gravity is the dominant force at distance in the universe, despite being much weaker. Hawking, Stephen (1988), A Brief History of Time, Bantam Press, p. 77

Does the earth have a net positive/negative electrical charge?
Best Answer: The Earth is negatively charged, carrying 500, 000 C of electric charge, and is at 300, 000 V of voltage difference from the positively charged ionosphere. There is a constant flow of electricity, at around 1350 A, and resistance of the Earth atmosphere is around 220 Ohms. This gives a power output of around 400 MW, which is ultimately regenerated by the power of the Sun that affects ionosphere, as well as troposphere, causing thunderstorms. The electrical energy stored in atmosphere is around 150 GJ.
The Earth-ionosphere system acts as a giant capacitor, of capacity 1.8 Farads.
The earth surface carries around -1 nC of electric charge per square meter of surface.

A net charge for Earth is when all the positives and negatives are subtracted out. Science tends to ignore the question ever since the Velikovsky affair. Therefore, there is no Wiki page on the subject by default. Hawking certainly has not done the research or the math and basically, he does not have a clue what he’s talking about. Physics has done no research into the nature of electricity for a hundred years, which is why “electricity” has a different meaning to electrical engineers.
